WE WENT TO BIERBEISL AND LIKED IT A LOT

Well, I never wanted to be a food blogger because I never wanted to snap photos of my dishes at the restaurant. But Eddie and I like to try new, fun, and tasty places, so I thought it would be worthwhile to say a thing or two about spots we visit (probably only the good ones)…without photos.

Today we tried BierBeisl in downtown LA. They serve authentic Austrian street food and delicious beers. I felt like I could have made a meal out of just the chewy pretzel and nice, dark BierBeisl draft beer, but we ordered a variety of other things, and I ended up getting pretty stuffed.

According to Eddie, the Kaesekrainer, or Polish sausage infused with juicy tidbits of Swiss cheese, was the winner.  I would say I was a bigger fan of the slightly warm, tangy potato salad and pretzel, but that’s because I love carbs. We also tried the Nurnberger, Grillwurst, and Turkey Bratwurst sausages, and they were all flavorful and quite good. I wanted to ask if they would ever offer a vegetarian sausage option, but I wasn’t sure if that would upset anybody there. Meaty sausages can be hard to digest, but luckily I got a nice side of sauerkraut to aid digestion. And crispy curry fries.

Eddie also got the Stiegl (grapefruit radler), which he compared to a brass monkey. I didn’t know what a brass monkey was…it’s Olde English and OJ. Sounds disgusting, but Eddie meant it as a compliment.

For dessert, we got some kind of sweet roll filled with an apricot jam. It was like a dense Kings Hawaiian roll. They have fancier desserts and cakes, but the roll was good enough for this carb lover.

But, yes, BierBeisl is good and the service is worth the charge they tack on. They are open daily from 8AM to 2AM, which is amazing.

BierBeisl is located:
Spring Arcade Building
