Having such a fun and busy birthday weekend, that I’m finally getting around to posting my birthday outfit–this really pretty Free People-style boho lace dress.
I scrambled online at the last minute to find a dress to wear to my birthday dinner. I checked ASOS (my usual go-to for petite-sized dresses), but I didn’t see anything that I liked. So I turned to the best place for a large selection of dresses, and the fastest shipping–Amazon.
A while ago I saw a lady’s Instagram post that said something like, “Women over 30 should not wear mini-skirts.” That’s utter hogwash to me. I seriously was so happy to find a dress short enough to show some leg on my short 5’1″ frame.
Just recently I started opening up to wearing more boho-style trends. And I have to say I love the flowiness and the feminine free spirit of the style.
I love the details on this boho lace dress. The upper part of the dress is all lace, so I wore a black bralette for appropriate coverage. There’s also lace at the upper part of the skirt at the waist, so I wore black slip-shorts underneath the dress. It looks purplish in the photos, but the color I selected and received is brown. It also comes in black, orange, pink, and white…and they all look beautiful. Especially for $24.99!
My favorite detail on the dress is the choker neckline.
Also love the pretty bell sleeves.
It feels crazy weird and also pretty darn great to turn 40. As I mentioned on IG, I felt as though I needed to hide my real age when I first started style blogging. But after a while, you realize there’s no point in it if you can’t show your true self. So yes, I’m totally embracing the start of this new decade. And thanks to all who left me the sweetest comments and compliments (and if you weren’t pulling my leg about wanting “beauty secrets”…I have none…but I do have a Beauty page.) ☺️
